How We Handle Your Information

Combat veterans considering disclosure of PTSD and Schedule I substance use have real privacy concerns. The site is built accordingly. This page explains what's collected, what isn't, and how to reach us.

The Short Version

  • We use anonymized analytics (Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics 4) to see what's working on the site. Input fields are masked — we can't read what you type. Cross-device tracking and ad personalization are explicitly disabled.
  • If you opt into the newsletter, we store your email and first name with Kit. We never sell or share your information.
  • The 5-minute screening is hosted on Qualtrics. Their privacy policy applies once you click through. Screening responses are anonymous.
  • We do not store any personally identifying information about visitors who don't opt in or screen.

What we track

Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps + session recordings)

Microsoft Clarity helps us understand which pages are working and which need work — how far visitors scroll, what they click, where attention dies. This lets us improve the site over time without intrusive tracking.

Google Analytics 4 (visitor counts and traffic sources)

Google Analytics 4 helps us understand how many people visit, where they come from (search, social, direct), and how often they make it to the screening. It complements Clarity by answering “how many” while Clarity answers “what's happening on the page.”

You can opt out of both tools by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser, or by installing a privacy tool like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger. Google also offers a dedicated Analytics opt-out browser extension.

Newsletter (Kit)

If you sign up for newsletter updates on /support, /merch, or /not-qualified, we collect:

We use this only to send updates about the research. We never sell, share, or trade your information. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. The list is hosted by Kit, governed by their privacy policy.

Screening survey (Qualtrics)

The 5-minute screening is hosted on ciis.qualtrics.com. Once you click through to the survey, Qualtrics' privacy policy applies.

Screening responses are anonymous. No identifying information is connected to your responses. We see only aggregate data and whether respondents qualify for the full study.

If you qualify and choose to participate in the full interview portion of the study, you'll receive a separate informed-consent process that explains exactly what data will be collected and how it will be stored. The study is approved by the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) Ethics Board.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them — you just won't help us measure how it's working.

We treat questions seriously. There are no “dumb” questions about privacy when the topic is your service, your health, or your story.
