The Short Version
- We use anonymized analytics (Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics 4) to see what's working on the site. Input fields are masked — we can't read what you type. Cross-device tracking and ad personalization are explicitly disabled.
- If you opt into the newsletter, we store your email and first name with Kit. We never sell or share your information.
- The 5-minute screening is hosted on Qualtrics. Their privacy policy applies once you click through. Screening responses are anonymous.
- We do not store any personally identifying information about visitors who don't opt in or screen.
What we track
Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps + session recordings)
Microsoft Clarity helps us understand which pages are working and which need work — how far visitors scroll, what they click, where attention dies. This lets us improve the site over time without intrusive tracking.
- All data is anonymized by default
- Input fields (email, first name, message bodies) are automatically masked — we cannot read what you type
- Data is stored on Microsoft's servers, governed by Microsoft's Privacy Statement
- A session cookie is set so a single visitor isn't counted as multiple people
Google Analytics 4 (visitor counts and traffic sources)
Google Analytics 4 helps us understand how many people visit, where they come from (search, social, direct), and how often they make it to the screening. It complements Clarity by answering “how many” while Clarity answers “what's happening on the page.”
- IP addresses are anonymized before storage
- Cross-device tracking (Google Signals) is explicitly disabled at the page level
- Ad personalization signals are explicitly disabled at the page level
- We do not link Google Analytics to any advertising account
- Data is stored on Google's servers, governed by the Google Privacy Policy
You can opt out of both tools by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser, or by installing a privacy tool like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger. Google also offers a dedicated Analytics opt-out browser extension.
Newsletter (Kit)
If you sign up for newsletter updates on /support, /merch, or /not-qualified, we collect:
- Your email address
- Your first name (optional)
- The page where you signed up — so we can tell newsletter subscribers from screen-out subscribers and tailor what we send
We use this only to send updates about the research. We never sell, share, or trade your information. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. The list is hosted by Kit, governed by their privacy policy.
Screening survey (Qualtrics)
The 5-minute screening is hosted on ciis.qualtrics.com. Once you click through to the survey, Qualtrics' privacy policy applies.
Screening responses are anonymous. No identifying information is connected to your responses. We see only aggregate data and whether respondents qualify for the full study.
If you qualify and choose to participate in the full interview portion of the study, you'll receive a separate informed-consent process that explains exactly what data will be collected and how it will be stored. The study is approved by the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) Ethics Board.
What we do not track
- Personally identifying information about anonymous visitors
- The contents of any input fields (email, first name, message bodies, search inputs)
- Cross-site behavior outside microdosingvets.com
- Information from your screening responses — we never see them
- Your IP address in identifiable form — Clarity anonymizes IPs by default
Cookies
The site uses cookies for three purposes:
- Microsoft Clarity sets a session cookie to track session continuity, so a single visitor isn't counted as several
- Google Analytics 4 sets cookies (typically
_gaand_ga_<property-id>) to distinguish unique visitors and remember session state - Kit sets a cookie if you submit the newsletter form, used to remember your subscription state
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them — you just won't help us measure how it's working.
Your rights
- You can ask what data we have stored about you. Email research@foundationlabs.us
- You can ask us to delete your newsletter subscription and all associated data. Email the same address.
- You can opt out of analytics by enabling Do Not Track or installing a privacy extension.
- If you participate in the full study, the consent document and CIIS Ethics Board oversight govern additional data rights.
Questions
If you have questions about how your information is handled, or you're considering screening but want clarification first, contact us at research@foundationlabs.us.
We treat questions seriously. There are no “dumb” questions about privacy when the topic is your service, your health, or your story.
